Review :
Brilliant Film, Bad Blu-Ray, Wait For A Special Edition
To repeat, this 3 star review is a review of the Blu-ray, not the film, which is brilliant in case you haven't seen it.

The distributor of this film has decided to hold back two separate versions of Fury Road, promised by director Miller, to be included here and confirmed by him as having been completed in time for this release, because they want more of our money. The plan is to hold back these versions, including the increasingly popular Black and White version, which is spectacular, for inclusion on a later release of this film. The second or third edition of this film will be one of Warner's ever expanding line-up of complete releases that only come out after the company has made endless money on an initial, pathetic offering with missing features and exclusions galore.

This film is glorious, make no mistake, but this release is shameful. If you love Fury Road and can't wait to see it again, I don't blame you for having to run out and buy it, but, if you can...
I don't get why critics are convinced this has no story
It is an interesting and, at first discombobulating choice to tell the story without much in the way of exposition. But what exactly did you need to know that you didn't?

Important information:
1) A warlord named Joe keeps hundreds of people as slaves.
2) One of his deputies decides to escape with some of those slaves.
3) If they're caught, the slaves will be raped, the deputy will be tortured, and everything will end badly for everyone we care about.
4) They need to not get caught.

That's enough movie for you, right? The stakes are high if you have any imagination, because every single visual tells you just how bad Furiosa et al will catch it if Joe gets his hands on them again. The effects are superb-- all practical-- and the pacing keeps your attention. Sometimes the sudden dialogue bursts are jarring, but the nonverbal acting from just about everyone is on point.

All of the above is what makes Fury Road a good action movie...
Exquisitely Chaotic and Brutal
The Mad Max series is finally enjoying a long awaited (30 years!) return to form (or is it?). Fury Road brings our titular hero back into the spotlight where he deserves to be. This time around Mel Gibson has been replaced with fan favorite actor Tom Hardy (Inception, Warrior, The Dark Knight Rises). Not only was Hardy a perfect cast from the aesthetic standpoint (looks very much like a younger Mel Gibson in the movie) but the way he plays the character makes it feel like he's been doing it forever.

The supporting cast was anything but lost in this one. In fact many people will say they stole the show (mostly because of Hardy's more limited role). Theron turns in an excellent performance as the Imperator Furiosa and raises the bar of the female hero almost to the levels of Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies. Nicholas Hoult (Google him) plays someone that hardly resembles him or anything else he's done and does a great job making you feel conflicted about...

"It was as if her torture had become her delight."
Harold Pinter's screenplay of John Fowles's novel, combined with Karel Reisz's direction, creates a stunning vehicle for Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons as they bring an enigmatic 19th century love story to life. But this film is actually two love stories. Streep and Irons also play contemporary actors making a film of the 19th century love story, and their relationship clearly parallels the story they are filming. Sarah Woodruff (Streep), known as "the French Lieutenant's woman," is an outcast in mid-19th century Lyme Regis, where she lives, because she has broken the taboos of society. Needing work to stay alive, she must accept the stultifying strictures of Victorian society and work as a governess or lady's companion, or become a prostitute, the only other option open for a woman without an inheritance or family.

Charles Smithson (Jeremy Irons), an amateur geologist and Darwinian in the early story, is the rather stuffy fiancé of Ernestina Freeman (Lynsey...
"I have a freedom they cannot understand."
"Outside of marriage, your Victorian gentleman could look forward to 2.4 f*cks a week," Mike (Jeremy Irons) coolly calculates after Anna (Meryl Streep) has read to him the statistics according to which, while London's male population in 1857 was 1 1/4 million, the city's estimated 80,000 prostitutes were receiving a total of 2 million clients per week. And frequently, Anna adds, the women thus forced to earn their living came from respectable positions like that of a governess, simply having fallen into bad luck, e.g. by being discharged after a dispute with their employer and their resulting inability to find another position.

This brief dialogue towards the beginning of this movie based on John Fowles's 1969 novel succinctly illustrates both the fate that would most likely have been in store for title character Sarah (Meryl Streep in her "movie within the movie" role), had she left provincial Lyme Regis on Dorset's Channel coast and gone to London, and the Victorian...
Film Acting At It's Best
It's a real shame that so few people have seen this film. It is a hidden treasure. Streep and Irons play present-day actors who are making a film about two people having an affair in Victorian England. The actors themselves are also involved in an affair, making the story a sort of movie-within-a-movie. I have not read the Fowles novel, so I don't have any of the gripes that other reviewers have voiced. I can only tell you that the story, the performances, the settings, the cinematography and the writing are all first-rate. All connected with this film obviously took a lot of time and effort to make a visually stunning film. It still looks great 20 years after its release, and looks even better on DVD (despite the fact that the disc offers no extras except the theatrical trailer...oh well...). Even if you end up hating the story, I don't think anyone would complain about the superior performances by Irons and Streep.
Possibly the reason this film has been largely...

Review :
Funny, Over-The-Top Horror
I've always gotten a kick out of this movie. The story line is original (or at least it seems so to me). The gore is startling in a couple of scenes but isn't overpowering. The acting is outrageously over the top but also is endearing.

Thirteen-year-old Fool (Brandon Ames) finds himself in a large suburban house owned by the two slum lords who are about to evict his sick mother and others from a ghetto tenement. He's in the house because he agreed to help two burglars make a score on treasure they heard was hidden there. Unfortunately for Fool (and his two grown-up accomplices), the owners are a brother and sister who call each other Mommy and Daddy. The man (Everett McGill) is a homicidal maniac who goes in for head-to-toe, studded, black leather bondage suits and pump action, single barrel shotguns. His sister (Wendy Robie) is just as looney and just as murderous, a screaming dominatrix. They also have a large vicious dog you wouldn't want to hand feed...that is, unless...
People Under the Stairs, creepy as it looks:
This movie you are looking at is MOST CERTAINLY NOT your typical horror or slasher film. It is a mix of real horrors, dark comedy, and fairytale.
When I got this movie my expectations were very high, and I was glad they weren't let down. I expected alot from this movie, I had heard it was VERY scary, and I'm into horror movies VERY MUCH!!! The bad reviews on here, don't listen to them, see the movie yourself!!!
So Adam is a boy with his family living in some rundown tennant houses, his momma's dying of cancer. Well the kid hears about a treasure, locked up in the bottom of the basement of the house. The sad thing is no one ever comes out of this house alive, and unfortenately for him its not just a myth its the truth!!! Getting in may be a pain, but getting out is 10x's the fun!!! "Hear no evil, speak no evil, and see no evil" is a saying of the mother. Which holds to secret of the basement inhabitants.
There is a girl hidden upstairs though, and is violently...
This movie is not cliched
An earlier review I read of this movie seems to be horribly off. It mentions that it follows a horror-movie cliche where the cops are offered food and then give up the search.

However, this reviewer is dead wrong on several accounts. One, they are not policemen at all, but rather are child services. Two, the horror movie cliche would be having the policemen not believe the little boy crying wolf. Three, instead of following cliches, this movie instead turns around and breaks all of the cliches.

Instead of being afraid, only being able to scream, and seemingly always frozen in place, Fool instead doesn't ever really scream, either runs away or TURNS AROUND, FED UP, AND ATTACKS THE VILLAINS HIMSELF. At one point, he turns around, says "I'm through running" and tackles a man-eating dog that is bigger than him.

Is a character who isn't afraid of the villains, a character who fights back, a cliche? No.

This movie was hilarious, captivating, and...

Hot Pursuit (DVD)

An uptight and by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Sofia Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen

Review :
I GOT SHOTGUN
Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) is a "hyper-focus" policewoman. She is allowed to leave the evidence locker to escort a reluctant high value witness (Sofía Vergara) to Dallas. Circumstances causes their plans to go awry and they become on the run, trying to avoid both criminals and cops who want them dead.

The movie is cute, but not an over powering comedy. The jokes get old fast such as Sofia's age and Witherspoon's height. Sofia wear a shirt which says "Butter my Biscuits" for much of the film while Reese boasts a red dress. They shared a kissing scene and a cat fight because that is what the writers had to stoop to to get laughs. The film had potential as Reese got to use a full southern accent, but the script flopped.

Guide: F-bomb in soundtrack. No sex or nudity.

Entertaining enough but fell short
To he honest I was a bit disappointed by this movie, I mean sure it was entertaining enough that I watch the whole thing but it wasn't anything memorable. I love Reese Witherspoon and she is such a talented actress, that's why I even decided to try this movie out. I was pretty upset with it because its suppose to be a comedy but I didn't really laugh much. I hope that the next movie she stars in will be a little bit more memorable and fun.

Better than I expected & I did laugh quite a bit. A good choice for a movie when all you want is to relax and be entertained by
"You don't have to like me, but I'm the best chance you have of surviving." Cooper (Witherspoon) is a strict by-the-book police officer who tries her best at everything, often leading to disaster. When she is told she must escort Daniella Riva (Vergara) to Dallas in order for her to testify she is excited about finally getting a real job. Things immediately change and now her and Daniella are fugitives and it is up to Cooper to expose what is going on and keep Daniella safe. I wasn't really looking forward to this because I am not a Sofía Vergara fan at all. I was expecting something that tries to hard to be funny, like her but falls flat and is boring. I got something in the middle. The movie was much funnier than I expected, but on the other hand is nothing all that amazing and I thought The Heat was better. This is a movie that isn't a bad watch and is something you can put in and laugh at without having to think too much. Every once in a while that is a needed...

Review :
Watch it on a computer for better immersion!
I thought this movie was excellent! A lot of people will claim this is another "found footage" film, but it's more than that. In the world of complete and utter "social" takeover, I found this movie to be very entertaining. Also, I was watching it on my MAC computer, further enveloping myself into the world in which to movie takes place. There were a couple times when an alert of a chime would ring and I kept checking my notifications because I thought they were for me. Really felt like I was more involved than simply just being a viewer.

The "story" involves five friends talking in real time over Skype and Facebook messenger. It begins with just a hint of the back story. A high school girl by the name of Laura Barns (Heather Sossaman) committed suicide after an embarrassing video surfaced online. Ironically, someone ALSO posted the video of her taking her own life. Blaire (Shelley Hennig) and Mitch (Moses Storm) are talking over Skype discussing...
MUCH Better Watching on a Computer vs on the TV
This is a movie that I saw at a friend's house playing on her TV. I didn't really like it. But, another friend wanted to see it, so I watched it again, this time from on her computer.

It is a completely different movie when you watch it on TV vs from your own computer. It gives it a different, more real feel. If you are going to watch it, see it on the computer. It doesn't translate well onto a TV, because it takes place all from some one's computer desktop.

Don't waste time- watch the trailer.
Gave me a headache. Watching other people typing and flipping from screen to screen for the whole movie was annoying. The trailer for it shows all the scary scenes so save some time and just watch the trailer.
